[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is launching customized dementia management activities so that dementia patients and their families can live without worries about dementia.
According to the county on the 13th, the Dementia Safety Center signed a business agreement with the Senior Welfare Center and, in connection with senior life support workers, will carry out a customized dementia case management project targeting all dementia patients in the area.
The Visiting Memory Keeper Dementia Management Project is a project to support the establishment of a community-based system to detect dementia patients early and enable them to live safely in daily life, and will be implemented starting this month.
Before the full-scale project launch, on the 8th, the county conducted a project briefing, cognitive enhancement tool usage training, and dementia partner education for about 50 senior life support workers selected as memory keepers active at the Senior Welfare Center.
Memory keepers (senior life support workers) are matched one-on-one with management targets and visit the subjects at least once a week to manage medication, guide cognitive enhancement play activities, and monitor the health status of dementia patients.
They also serve as early detection helpers by encouraging local seniors to undergo dementia screening tests and contacting guardians if detailed examinations are needed. Additionally, they perform health care roles by checking on dementia patients and seniors with cognitive decline, delivering dementia prevention guidelines and exercise methods.
Yang Hyungsik, Director of the County Health and Medical Center (Head of the Dementia Safety Center), said, “Warm interest and understanding from community institutions are important for dementia patients and their families to live without worries about dementia,” adding, “We look forward to the active activities of memory keepers who can help ensure a safer and better life even with dementia.”
