Chungnam Establishes 'Integrated Platform' for Resident Safety and Urban Management

[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is joining hands with 15 cities and counties in the region to build an integrated platform for resident safety and urban management.

On the 13th, Chungnam Governor Yang Seung-jo, 15 mayors and county heads, the Chungnam Police Agency chief, the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation headquarters director, and 19 heads of institutions gathered to sign the "Chungnam Smart City Metropolitan Integrated Platform Construction Business Agreement."

The integrated platform will be established to link various information systems such as crime prevention and disaster management, traffic, environment, and facility management to support emergency response and efficient urban management.

Once the integrated platform is built, the province expects to protect local residents from crime and disasters by providing footage from the basic local governments' closed-circuit television (CCTV) integrated management centers to related agencies such as the police and fire stations, thereby securing the "golden time."

To this end, the province and the 19 agreement institutions, including the 15 cities and counties, will mutually share various situational information such as security, disasters, crime, fire, traffic, and accidents of each institution in the future.

Additionally, the cooperating institutions plan to form the "Chungnam Smart City Project Promotion Team" to promote efficient urban operation through integrated linkage of various information.

Prior to this, the province was selected in February for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Smart City Integrated Platform Construction Contest and received 600 million KRW in project funding.

Park Yeon-jin, Director of the Construction and Transportation Bureau of the province, said, "The construction of the integrated platform is a project that links and utilizes information held by participating institutions, so collaboration between institutions is most important," adding, "The province will establish an organic cooperation system among institutions through the agreement and accelerate the practical project implementation."
