[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 13th that the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (KCOMWEL) has commenced its first operations at the new office in Samjeong-dong, Gimhae.
As a result, workers and business owners in the Gimhae area, who previously had to visit the Yangsan branch, can now conveniently receive services from KCOMWEL. About 40 employees work at the Gimhae branch, including the Enrollment Support Department, Rehabilitation and Compensation Department, and Management Welfare Department.
KCOMWEL is a quasi-governmental organization that carries out employment and industrial accident insurance projects, wage claim guarantee projects, industrial accident medical services through directly managed hospitals, retirement pension projects, and job stability fund support projects for workers and business owners. The headquarters is located in Ulsan.
In the Busan-Gyeongnam area, there are nine branches including the Busan Regional Headquarters and Busan East Branch, as well as the Occupational Disease Judgment Committee and KCOMWEL Changwon Hospital.
The Gimhae branch was separated and newly established from the Yangsan branch. It provides various labor welfare services to 11 industrial complexes such as the specialized industries in machinery, automobile parts, and metal sectors in the eastern Gyeongnam region, and the Eobang Industrial Complex, covering 29,960 workplaces and 193,674 workers.
Kang Soon-hee, Director of KCOMWEL, said, "With the opening of the Gimhae branch, the inconvenience of workers and business owners in the Gimhae area having to travel over an hour to the Yangsan branch has been resolved, and they will be able to comfortably receive various services from KCOMWEL closer to their location."
