Shinyangdam~Baekryeonsa Trail 1.4km Section to Be Completed Within the Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] Muju-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 13th that it will undertake the restoration project of Gucheondong Eosagil, considered one of the 33 scenic spots.
According to the county, with the completion of the detailed design service for the additional restoration project of Deogyusan Gucheondong Eosagil last month, the restoration project of the 1.4 km-long Gucheondong Valley Eosagil will be promoted from the second half of this year.
Eosagil is a trail along the valley from Inwoldam, the 16th scenic spot among the 33 views of Gucheondong, to Baekryeonsa, the 32nd scenic spot.
This trail construction work is the second phase of restoration, from Shinyangdam to Baekryeonsa. In fact, once this second phase is completed, Eosagil will be fully restored and ready to welcome hikers and tourists.
The county is investing 1 billion KRW in the restoration project to provide convenience facilities such as two pedestrian bridges, deck roads, deck stairs, and signboards, while allowing visitors to fully experience the charm of the old Eosagil trail.
A county official stated, “To promote the project flexibly and develop it with the characteristics of the park preserved as an old trail, we are entrusting management to the Deogyusan National Park Office of the Korea National Park Service. The restoration of Eosagil is expected to be completed as early as this year or by the first half of next year at the latest.”
Meanwhile, Gucheondong Eosagil is a path that extends from the entrance of Eosagil through Inwoldam, Sajadam, Shinyangdam, Gucheon Waterfall, to Baekryeonsa. According to legend, the secret royal inspector Park Mun-su punished those who oppressed neighbors in Muju Gucheondong and restored human righteousness along this trail.
