Gwangju City Adds 150 More Bus Arrival Information Terminals

Gwangju City Adds 150 More Bus Arrival Information Terminals Gwangju City Hall

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 13th that it will install an additional 150 bus arrival information terminals, which provide real-time bus locations and estimated arrival times, by the end of this year.

Along with this, considering the difficulties in use due to the vulnerability to sunlight of the old LCD-type terminals installed privately in 2007, all 64 units will be replaced with LED-type terminals.

Currently, bus arrival information terminals are installed at a total of 775 stops in Gwangju, and with the installation of 150 new units this year, terminals will be installed at 925 stops, accounting for 39% of the total 2,074 bus stops.

The city plans to expand the terminals to cover 50% of all bus stops by 2022.

At stops without terminals, bus arrival information can be checked through the Mobile Gwangju app or ARS.

Additionally, various facilities such as bus arrival information terminals and bus route information boards, which obstruct pedestrian movement and visibility at each stop, will be installed in covered shelters in a mounted form to lead the realization of barrier-free bus stops.

Son Doo-young, head of the city's public transportation department, said, “We will continue to actively strive to provide convenience to public transportation users through the continuous installation of additional terminals and improvement of bus stop environments.”
