The Future Development Directions of the Altitude Preservation and Promotion Policy...

Cultural Heritage Administration and Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements to Hold Forum on the 14th

The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements will hold a forum on the future development direction of the Godo Preservation and Promotion Policy at 2 p.m. on the 14th at the Yuseong Hotel in Daejeon. They will evaluate the achievements so far in response to environmental changes in the Godo Preservation and Promotion Policy and derive new tasks. Based on this, they plan to organize institutional improvement plans and development directions.

Kim Ji-hoon, Director of Planning and Coordination at the Korea Legislation Research Institute, will take the podium to present "Development Directions of the Godo Promotion Act According to Changes in the Policy Environment." Moon Yi-hwa, Senior Researcher at the Mahan Baekje Culture Research Institute, and Shim Kyung-mi, Research Fellow at the Architecture and Urban Research Institute, will address the topics "Current Status and Improvement Plans for Establishing the Basic Plan for Godo Preservation and Promotion" and "Achievements and Future Tasks of the Godo Preservation and Promotion Project," respectively.

After the presentations, a discussion will be led by Lee Soon-ja, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements. Jo Hong-seok, Director of the Historical and Cultural Research Center at HI Policy Research Institute; Shim Kwang-joo, Member of the Central Deliberation Committee for Godo; and Professor Jeong Sang-cheol of the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage will participate to review suggestions on the challenges of the Godo Preservation and Promotion Policy, directions for institutional improvement, and future development directions.

Since the enactment of the "Special Act on Godo Preservation" in 2004, the Cultural Heritage Administration has been realizing a resident-led Godo Preservation and Promotion Policy through improving the historical and cultural environment and supporting resident activities. This has also produced results such as the transformation of Gyeongju Hwangridan-gil and Gongju Jemincheon areas into tourist attractions.

This year, they will begin designing a visitor center to establish a base for Godo exploration. Additionally, they are conducting a feasibility study for the establishment of the East Asian Historical City Promotion Institute and reviewing measures such as easing property disposition to protect the property rights of Godo residents. An official stated, "We will actively reflect the discussions from this forum in the Godo Preservation and Promotion Policy."
