Ford Korea CEO "Strengthening Eco-Friendly Lineup... Explorer PHEV Launch in Second Half"

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] David Jeffrey, CEO of Ford Sales Service Korea, revealed Ford Korea's strategy to strengthen its eco-friendly lineup, announcing plans to launch plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models of the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring in the domestic market in the second half of this year.

Jeffrey, who was appointed as the CEO of Ford Korea in March, stated in an online video on the 13th, "By strengthening the PHEV model lineup in the second half of this year, we plan to provide eco-friendly vehicles to Korean customers while supporting efforts to align with Ford's global electric vehicle strategy."

He also evaluated that the Lincoln Aviator and Corsair, launched in the domestic market in April and May this year, have received responses beyond expectations in the domestic premium sport utility vehicle (SUV) market.

CEO Jeffrey said, "It is encouraging that Lincoln is establishing itself as a reliable alternative within the choices of premium brands in Korea after the launch of new models," adding, "Despite limited supply volumes due to the closure of North American factories and COVID-19, we are striving to maintain high-quality service and deliver products to customers as quickly as possible."

In the video, CEO Jeffrey also introduced Ford's global advertising campaign for the Explorer under the slogan "Best Side of You," which is currently being implemented worldwide. He said, "With the planned launch of the Explorer PHEV model in the second half of this year, we expect this campaign to create greater momentum for the brand."

Finally, CEO Jeffrey said, "Since joining Ford Korea, I have been learning what the Korean imported car market and consumers expect and establishing business strategies for the future," adding, "We will actively communicate with customers and partners to meet their demands."
