[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The National Pension Service announced on the 13th that it received the Presidential Citation at the 9th Population Day event hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for providing retirement preparation services in response to population aging.

The Service explained, "This award recognizes our pioneering efforts in proactively addressing aging by being the first public institution to offer counseling and education on retirement preparation since 2008 and establishing a customized retirement preparation support system for the entire population."

Designated as the Central Retirement Preparation Support Center under the 'Retirement Preparation Support Act' enacted in 2015, the Service supports healthy and stable retirement lives for all citizens by providing retirement preparation services, training professional personnel, developing and distributing service programs, and promoting collaboration with local governments and public institutions.

At 109 Retirement Preparation Support Centers nationwide, the level and issues of retirement readiness in areas such as finance, health, leisure, and interpersonal relationships are diagnosed, and systematic retirement preparation is supported through one-on-one customized counseling, education, linkage with related organizations, and follow-up management.

Additionally, the 'Retirement Preparation Sketch' education program, aimed at raising awareness of the need for retirement preparation and providing useful information, is regularly held in major cities across the country. The 'New Middle-aged Retirement Preparation Academy' is conducted in Seoul, Busan, and Daegu to support the second act of life and social participation for the 50s and 60s age group.

Park Jeong-bae, Acting Director, said, "Receiving the Presidential Citation signifies that the Service has been recognized as a welfare service institution comprehensively supporting the retirement lives of the people." He added, "We will continue to do our best so that all citizens can face retirement without worries."
