[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Korea Railroad (KORAIL) announced on the 13th that it will offer up to a 70% discount on 'KTX Companion Seats' from the 20th of this month to the 10th of next month in celebration of the summer vacation period. Tickets will be available for purchase starting at 2 PM on the 14th.
KTX Companion Seats are a set of four seats designed for small groups such as families or friends traveling together.
For four adults traveling from Seoul to Busan using regular KTX seats, the cost is 239,200 KRW, but with the maximum discount on KTX Companion Seats, it can be used at around 18,000 KRW per person (a total of 71,800 KRW).
Since the number of KTX Companion Seats is limited, the earlier the reservation, the greater the discount applied.
Specially discounted KTX Companion Seats will be sold from 2 PM on the 14th via the Korea Railroad website and the smartphone app 'KORAIL Talk'. Detailed information can be found on the website and in the notices on KORAIL Talk.
A Korea Railroad official stated, "The KTX Companion Seat discount rate, which was previously 15-35% depending on the booking time, has been temporarily doubled," adding, "We hope this will reduce the economic burden on citizens using KTX and help the local economy."
