Nowon-gu Hosts Job Fair 'Good Employment Job Connection Festival'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) will hold a job fair that offers everything from employment consulting to recruitment and startup counseling.

The fair, held on the 15th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Junggye Neighborhood Park (Junggye 2·3-dong), is designed to provide job seekers who are struggling with employment due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with information on various job sectors and recruitment opportunities.

Under the theme "Good Employment, Job Connection Festival," 57 companies including excellent local companies and outstanding Seoul-based companies will participate, planning to hire 275 people.

The fair venue will be divided into an Employment Zone, Auxiliary Event Zone, and Free Market.

The "Employment Zone" will be divided into three sections. At the Recruitment Hall, one-on-one interviews with job seekers will be conducted. Thirty-six directly hiring companies in IT software, advertising agencies, etc., plan to recruit 164 people, and 21 companies hiring indirectly in software development, service, and manufacturing sectors plan to select 111 people.

The Employment Support Hall will assist job seekers with employment registration and placement through nine related job institutions, including the Nowon Job Counseling Center and Nowon 50 Plus Center.

Lastly, the Startup Hall will provide startup counseling with participation from 14 institutions, including startup centers from five universities in Nowon-gu and Seoul Technopark.

In the "Auxiliary Event Zone," five booths will operate, including a photo booth for interview photos, a Job Tarot booth offering counseling using tarot cards, a VR experience simulating real interviews, an aptitude test using fingerprints, and a Personal Color booth that provides image consulting by finding colors that suit individuals.

In the "Free Market Zone," 14 companies participating in the famous "Gamgodang-gil Craft Market," known for its women's craft market, will sell jewelry, leather products, and interior items.

Job seekers can apply for registration by visiting the District Office's Job and Economy Division by the 14th, and those who missed pre-registration can fill out a job application form at the event and participate in interviews on the day of the fair.

Applications for the Hope Job Project will also be accepted. The Hope Job Project is an expanded public work job program implemented to overcome the employment crisis caused by COVID-19. About 100 office and field positions will be selected through this fair.

The district will also conduct follow-up management after the job fair. Two weeks after the event, a telephone survey will be conducted targeting those who participated in on-site interviews to identify the number of final hires, employment status, company names, salaries, and contract types.

For those who were not hired, the reasons for rejection will be analyzed, and company rematching and individual consulting will be provided.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in advance, a professional company will disinfect each booth.

Hand sanitizers, thermometers, and disinfectants will be provided at each booth, and visitor logs will be maintained. Two staff members will be stationed at three main entrances of the fair to measure temperatures and attach stickers to visitors' clothing. An ambulance will be on standby in case of emergencies.

District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "Employment is the best welfare," and added, "I hope this fair will be a practical help to job seekers."
