[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Pro-government novelist Gong Ji-young expressed condolences for the late Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul.
On the 11th, Gong shared a link to Seoul City's online memorial altar on her Twitter, saying, "I was going to write 'The tears haven't all come out yet,' but now tears are falling."
She added, "Foolish Park Won-soon," and "Farewell. The Lord will look upon your entire life, understand how hard you tried, and embrace you generously."
Gong continued her mourning by retweeting posts from supporters commemorating Mayor Park. On the 12th, she also shared a post by former lawmaker Lee Seok-hyun.
On the same day, Lee tweeted, "On Friday, while coming back from paying respects, I tried to understand the deceased's feelings, and my aching heart was overwhelmed with sorrow. How much pain must he have endured to choose death! When an acquaintance dies, paying respects is a duty," adding, "I have not lived such a perfect life to declare in front of reporters that I will not attend the funeral. How harsh a world must it be that a political party pursues a society where even funerals are not attended."
Earlier, Mayor Park was found dead near Sukjeongmun at Bukaksan Mountain in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, at 12:01 a.m. on the 10th. It was reported that he had been accused of sexual harassment by a former secretary the day before his disappearance on the 8th.
The funeral procedures for Mayor Park's Seoul Metropolitan City official funeral will conclude on the 13th. On that day, after the departure ceremony, the hearse carrying Mayor Park left Seoul National University Hospital funeral hall, where the mourning room was set up, around 7:20 a.m. and headed to Seoul City Hall, where the memorial service will be held. The memorial service will be conducted online from 8:30 a.m. at the City Hall multipurpose hall.
