A Total of 4,311 Employees and Residents Conduct Intensive Disinfection at 1,785 Locations Including Bus Stops, Subway Stations, and Parks
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) conducted extensive disinfection of 1,785 major facilities closely related to residents' daily lives to prevent sporadic infections of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The district designated this month until the 10th as the COVID-19 intensive disinfection week, mobilizing a total of 4,311 people including district and neighborhood office staff, community leaders, and university student part-timers to carry out intensive on-site disinfection activities.
The staff formed inspection teams to disinfect twice a day, and community leaders patrolled their respective neighborhoods during peak commuting hours. They focused on disinfecting a total of 1,785 locations including ▲645 bus stops ▲235 children's parks ▲195 general parks ▲285 market areas ▲100 subway station surroundings ▲140 bicycle storage areas ▲185 other locations.
Related organizations such as the Gwanak-gu Sports Council and the Facilities Management Corporation also strengthened disinfection activities in public facilities including public restrooms, welfare facilities, and cultural and sports facilities in line with the intensive disinfection week.
Additionally, two 3.5-ton water spraying vehicles were used twice daily to disinfect major areas such as roads, bus stops, subway station entrances, Sharosugil, Sillim Intersection, key alleyway commercial districts, and residential areas.
On the afternoon of June 29, Mayor Park Jun-hee personally joined staff to meticulously disinfect public facilities such as shared bicycles, park benches, exercise equipment, and subway station handrails in the Nakseongdae-dong area of Gwanak-gu.
Starting from June 30, the first day of the intensive disinfection week, the patrol covered a total of nine neighborhoods including Miseong-dong, Sillim-dong, and Cheongnyong-dong, carefully disinfecting facilities closely related to residents' daily lives.
Alongside this, on the 3rd and 7th of this month, the district conducted intensive promotional campaigns to encourage residents to comply with personal COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
The campaigns were held at 53 key points in each neighborhood such as subway stations and bus stops, with participants holding signs explaining disinfection rules. Since the campaigns took place during busy commuting hours, all participants strictly adhered to social distancing and other prevention measures.
Gwanak-gu’s on-site disinfection efforts will continue even after the intensive disinfection week ends.
Starting from the 13th, the district plans to establish a daily disinfection system centered on neighborhood community centers, utilizing about 60 staff and university student part-timers, approximately 800 public workers participating in the Hope Job Project, and 449 elderly participants in senior job programs to maintain disinfection of major facilities.
Mayor Park Jun-hee will also continue his focused disinfection visits to major facilities in neighborhoods, prioritizing COVID-19 prevention as a top issue.
Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “I thank all residents and staff who participated in the intensive disinfection activities with one heart and one mind to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” and added, “Going forward, we will implement a thorough disinfection system centered on neighborhood community centers to cover all areas and facilities in the district, making every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
