Dobong-gu, Stay-at-Home 'Chinese Language Class' Lecture

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) will offer a 'Chinese Online Lecture' that can be learned from home starting on the 13th.

This online lecture was prepared so that many residents can learn Chinese without being restricted by time and place, as it has become difficult to conduct face-to-face classes for residents due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The video lectures are filmed at the DBS studio inside the district office, and Chen Yu (??), a Chinese exchange official dispatched from Changping District, will serve as the native instructor.

The lectures will be broadcast on YouTube through the top banner of the Dobong-gu Office website starting July 13.

Once a week, one lecture will be provided, covering a total of 13 sessions on topics such as ▲basic pronunciation of Chinese tones ▲daily conversation ▲Chinese culture.

In particular, it will provide opportunities to indirectly experience Chinese culture through learning Chinese pronunciation based on basic explanations of tones, interesting and useful practical conversation skills highly applicable in daily life, and introductions to Chinese food, tourist attractions, and traditional clothing.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “As face-to-face education for residents has become difficult due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we will do our best to provide educational opportunities non-face-to-face and strengthen residents’ capabilities.”

The district has had an international friendship city agreement with Changping District since 1996, and Chinese exchange officials dispatched from Changping District have been actively operating Chinese language classes for children and residents.
