[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jeong-ho] Film director Jeong In-bong has passed away at the age of 52.

At around 9:45 a.m. on the 12th, the fire department received a report that Director Jeong suddenly collapsed and was not breathing at Cheonggyesan in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

On that day, the fire department performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and transported Director Jeong to the hospital by fire helicopter, but he was pronounced dead at around 11:20 a.m.

The deceased directed films such as "The History of Jealousy," "Gil," and "Soon-ae" during his lifetime. Additionally, he won the Grand Prize at the "UHD 4K Video Storytelling Festival" in 2015.

In particular, he often made films about stories of people. The film "The History of Jealousy" is a mystery melodrama centered on jealousy, a universal human emotion.

The film "Gil" is a work that depicts the loneliness and love of the elderly. This work was officially invited to the "Wide Angle - Korean Short Film Competition" section at the 21st Busan International Film Festival last year.

In an interview with a media outlet in March last year, he stated, "The drama genre is always difficult because, when you look closely, it is a story everyone knows and is not new. Stories about people are needed as long as people live. Everyone suffers, so people need love. Support and camaraderie are needed more than jealousy."

Also, at the production presentation of the film "Gil" in April 2017, he mentioned, "Everyone ages and will continue to age. I wanted to tell the story of the elderly, but I wanted to do it brightly. I wanted to make a film where generations can communicate and confirm warm affection."
