Yeongdeungpo-gu, Visiting College Admission Consulting... 1-on-1 Customized Guidance

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is promoting the 'Visiting Career and College Admission Consulting Project' for middle and high school students in the region from July to November in collaboration with the Yeongdeungpo University Admission Information Center.

To facilitate career counseling for local students and support those facing difficulties preparing for college admission due to COVID-19, admission specialists will be dispatched directly to schools to help students prepare for their careers and college admissions safely and systematically.

The consulting will be conducted in two phases: the first from July to August, and the second from September to November. From Monday to Friday, excluding weekends, counseling will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. in designated counseling rooms at schools, with a 1:1 matching between students and counselors.

Up to five students can receive counseling per day, and there is no limit on the number of counseling days per school.

The main counseling topics for middle school students include ▲ vision setting, study methods, and correction of study habits ▲ selection of high schools for admission; for first and second-year high school students, ▲ study methods and correction of study habits ▲ management of academic and extracurricular records in the school life record book; for third-year high school students, the counseling covers exploring universities and departments available based on current grades and establishing study and application strategies to gain admission to target universities.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, counseling locations undergo thorough facility disinfection and ventilation in advance. Students receiving counseling are required to wear masks and use hand sanitizer. Counselors are also dispatched only after temperature checks and confirmation of no respiratory symptoms.

Schools wishing to participate can apply for the first phase by July 10 via email to the Yeongdeungpo University Admission Information Center contact (jinhakmani@gmail.com). The schedule for the second phase will be announced later.

Yeongdeungpo-gu has recently provided real-time career mentoring counseling using the YouTube platform to offer career exploration opportunities at home, and operates an online life science classroom for elementary students, striving to prepare non-face-to-face educational support measures in response to the COVID-19 era.

Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We hope that the Visiting Career and College Admission Consulting will greatly help middle and high school students in the region set clear learning goals and directions,” and added, “We will prepare various programs to resolve the increased educational polarization after COVID-19.”
