[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 12th that it will carry out a campaign called ‘Express Your Heart Online’ during family events such as weddings to prevent the local spread of COVID-19.
This campaign will be conducted for all citizens as well as public officials of Gwangju City and autonomous districts.
In particular, prospective grooms and brides, as well as the hosts, are encouraged to include account numbers for transferring congratulations online, such as ‘account transfer instead of envelopes,’ in wedding invitations or notification messages to establish an online congratulatory culture.
Since last month, Gwangju City has been conducting a campaign called ‘Celebrate Without Eating’ as a measure to prevent COVID-19.
Subsequently, on the 2nd, as social distancing was raised to Level 2, gatherings or events with more than 50 people indoors or more than 100 people outdoors were completely banned.
Accordingly, the ‘Celebrate Without Eating’ campaign was decided to be converted into the ‘Express Your Heart Online’ campaign.
In this regard, Gwangju City has formed a joint inspection team with autonomous districts and the police agency to check compliance with quarantine rules at 17 wedding halls in the jurisdiction every week, making every effort to block the local spread of COVID-19.
Kang Young-sook, Director of the Women and Family Bureau of the city, said, “Although the sudden restriction on the number of guests will cause significant damage and inconvenience to wedding businesses and hosts, we ask for understanding and cooperation with one heart to overcome COVID-19,” and added, “We will minimize citizen inconvenience through future institutional improvements for any shortcomings.”
