Geumcheon-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center Toy Delivery Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that the “Visiting Toy Delivery Service,” which was temporarily operated at the Geumcheon-gu Childcare Support Center since March, will be organized as a regular project and officially launched starting in July.

Previously, due to the prolonged closure of the Geumcheon-gu Childcare Support Center Toy Library caused by the spread of COVID-19, the district piloted the service for four months from March to June to alleviate childcare stress for families with infants and toddlers and to support early childhood development.

As a result, the number of new and re-registered members increased to 92, and the number of toy rentals reached 1,359, reflecting very high satisfaction among residents. Therefore, the service was organized as a regular project and officially started in July.

Residents who wish to use the “Visiting Toy Rental Service” can make reservations online through the Geumcheon-gu Childcare Support Center website.

Rental applications are accepted daily until 10 a.m., and deliveries are made from 1:30 p.m. on the same day to major buildings near each home or designated locations. Returns on the designated date can be made using the delivery vehicle, while returns outside the designated date must be made using the unmanned return box at the Toy Library.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We have organized this project as a regular service due to the great response from residents, aiming to ease the childcare burden on families with infants and toddlers caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Although the COVID-19 situation continues and it is a difficult time where quarantine activities and daily life coexist, we will do our best to create a convenient childcare environment prioritizing the safety of our residents.”

The Geumcheon-gu Childcare Support Center opened the Siheung branch in September 2007 and the Doksan branch in January 2011. It has been providing childcare support services for infants, toddlers, and parents, including education and counseling for childcare staff, provision of childcare information, toy rentals, and play spaces for young children.
