Jeonju Youth Counseling and Welfare Center Supports Career Exploration for At-Risk Youth

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Jeonju City, Jeollabuk-do, provided career exploration opportunities to at-risk youth who are unable to lead stable lives.

On the 11th, according to the city’s Youth Counseling Welfare Center, a free job experience program linked with the 1388 Youth Support Group, called "Mentor Chaja GoGo," was conducted for 12 at-risk youths, including school maladjusted students from 6th grade elementary school and out-of-school youths.

This program helps youths explore careers by visiting workplaces directly to hear vivid stories from mentors and experience the work firsthand.

To this end, Moon Young-mi, director of the Coffee Culture Academy and a talent-donating mentor affiliated with the 1388 Youth Support Group, participated and introduced various episodes related to the process of becoming a barista and running a cafe to the youths.

They also had hands-on experience making beverages and desserts, including hand drip demonstrations and espresso extraction.

Center Director Jung Hye-sun said, “I hope this experience will be an opportunity for at-risk youths, who are living unstable lives, to prepare for their dreams and future,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various career exploration programs for youths.”
