[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] As the final episode of tvN's 'Three Meals a Day - Fishing Village 5' aired, the production team expressed deep responsibility regarding the fire that occurred on Jukguldo Island in Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do.
In the episode broadcast on the 10th, PD Na Young-seok told Yoo Hae-jin and Cha Seung-won, "We briefly informed the brothers before filming, but when we were preparing for the shoot, there was too much trash on the island, so we hired an external company to clean it up. However, they once accidentally started a fire on the mountain," he said.
The fire occurred around 11 a.m. on April 2. The production team explained that the contracted waste disposal company caused the incident by illegally burning trash inside the island during preparation for filming.
Regarding the incident, PD Na said, "It was a very serious incident, and since the responsibility for management and supervision lies with us, it is only natural that we restore the area with our own efforts if possible." He added, "We will do our best to revive nature until the residents are satisfied."
PD Na continued, "I wanted to take this opportunity to explain to the brothers and also to the viewers."
Through subtitles, the 'Three Meals a Day' team specifically stated, "Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the production team deeply regrets the unfortunate wildfire. After long discussions with the residents, the Korea Forest Service, Wando County Office, and Wando County Forestry Cooperative, we plan to proceed with a forest restoration project starting next spring according to procedures."
They emphasized, "Although nature cannot be perfectly restored, we will take full responsibility until the end and do our utmost to restore the forest."
