[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do held a meeting on the 10th to discuss current issues with local members of the 21st National Assembly, including Governor Lee Cheol-woo and key provincial executives.


The meeting was organized primarily for first-term lawmakers to share key provincial issues and to firmly establish a mutually cooperative system. According to Gyeongbuk Province, following the completion of the assignment of lawmakers to National Assembly standing committees on the 7th, discussions were also held on strategies for securing national budget allocations by committee.


Gyeongbuk Province focused on reporting the current status and response plans regarding major regional issues such as the construction of the integrated new airport, administrative integration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and the status of the 2021 national budget by standing committee, while requesting continuous support.


Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated, "The construction of the integrated new airport is not just an issue for Gunwi and Uiseong but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to open the skyway for Daegu and Gyeongbuk to the world. We are mobilizing all provincial government capabilities to submit a joint candidate area application by the 31st," urging active interest and cooperation from the lawmakers.


In response, local lawmakers expressed their determination to work together for the benefit of the entire Gyeongbuk Province beyond their constituencies.


Among Gyeongbuk Province’s current issues, SOC sector projects include ▲ Yeongilman Cross-section Expressway and Bukgumi IC~Gunwi JC Expressway ▲ Donghae (Yeongdeok~Samcheok) Expressway and other wide-area road networks ▲ Mungyeong~Gimcheon inland railway ▲ Donghae Line double-track electrification (Pohang~Gangneung) ▲ Jungbu Inland Line (Icheon~Mungyeong) railway ▲ Southern Inland Railway (Gimcheon~Geoje).


Additionally, securing national funding for future growth industries is a major task, including ▲ Gumi Smart Industrial Complex Leading Project ▲ Steel Industry Re-advancement Technology Development Project ▲ 5G Test Network-based Testbed Construction ▲ Automobile Tuning Technology Support Cluster Project ▲ National Drone Practical Test Site Construction ▲ Gyeongbuk Industrial Complex Grand Renovation Project.
