[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Russia's daily new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have remained in the 6,000 range for fifteen consecutive days, pushing the total confirmed cases beyond 710,000. This ranks Russia fourth in the world in terms of cumulative confirmed cases, following the United States, Brazil, and India.
On the 10th (local time), Russian health authorities announced, "In the past day, 6,635 new cases were confirmed nationwide, including in the capital Moscow," adding, "the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 713,936." The number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 174 in one day, reaching 11,017.
In early May, Russia recorded daily confirmed cases exceeding 11,000, but the numbers gradually declined, reaching the 6,000 range (6,800 cases) on the 26th of last month. Since then, the figure has remained steady in the 6,000 range without further decrease.
The number of new confirmed cases in Moscow was 637, bringing the total confirmed cases to 228,000.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients increased by 7,752 in the past day, totaling 489,068. The recovery rate stands at approximately 68%.
