[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] On the 10th, Jang Hye-young, a Justice Party lawmaker, wrote on Facebook regarding the late Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul, "I cannot bring myself to mourn as if nothing happened. No matter how significant and meaningful the legacy left by the deceased in our society, there are still things we need to know."

Jang said, "Someone bravely raised the issue, but the person who should be investigated has disappeared from this world," adding, "I am bewildered that the end of this story is a 'no prosecution' decision and an unprecedented funeral held in the name of the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Instead of caring for the feelings of the person who struggled to reveal the victimization and raise the issue, I firmly oppose the slander, criticism, and secondary victimization that are occurring."

He continued, "Even amidst sadness and anger, we must know. We need to know what happened. If we do not know properly, we cannot remember properly, and if we cannot remember, we will not be able to respond properly in the future."

Jang concluded, "What must be done unprecedentedly is not the Seoul Mayor’s funeral but a thorough investigation into sexual violence by high-ranking officials through abuse of power and measures to prevent recurrence. Difficult times are passing. I hope our hearts are strong enough to endure this moment and find a wise path. I sincerely offer my condolences to the bereaved family."
