One More Death in Fire at Yoonho 21 Hospital, Goheung-gun... Total 3 Dead, 27 Injured A fire broke out at Yunho 21 Hospital in Goheung-gun at around 3:42 a.m. on the 10th, resulting in 30 casualties.

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The death toll from the fire at Yunho 21 Hospital in Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, has increased by one.


According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 10th, Mr. A, who was receiving treatment at the hospital, died that afternoon.


The total number of deaths has risen to three, and the number of injured has reached 27. All the deceased were patients admitted to the hospital where the fire broke out.


Meanwhile, the fire occurred at Yunho 21 Hospital in Namgye-ri, Goheung-eup, around 3:42 a.m. that day.


It is known that a hospital staff member saw smoke and flames on the first floor and reported it to 119.


The fire authorities arrived at the scene within 7 minutes of the report, issued Response Level 1, and completely extinguished the fire by 6:01 a.m.


The firefighting effort involved about 290 personnel from the fire department, police, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and about 50 pieces of equipment including pump trucks.


The hospital, which has 138 beds, reportedly had a total of 76 people present at the time, including 69 patients (excluding 21 who were out) and 7 staff members among the 90 inpatients.

The fire authorities, police, and KEPCO formed a joint fire investigation team and began a detailed investigation around 2 p.m. to determine the exact cause of the fire and the initial ignition point.


The investigation team, finding no signs of external intrusion, believes arson is unlikely but is keeping various possibilities open during the investigation.
