[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Go Dallyoung] The Jangsu County Council in Jeonbuk announced that it has been actively conducting legislative activities to realize the policy of “an open council that communicates and collaborates with the residents.”
According to the county council on the 10th, starting from the 291st extraordinary session on July 2, 2018, up to the 315th 1st regular session in June this year, a total of 25 sessions spanning 192 days were held. During these sessions, 253 agenda items were deliberated and resolved, including 167 ordinances (139 proposed by the executive branch, 28 by council members), 29 budget and settlement-related items, 38 consent items, and 12 shared property management plans.
Furthermore, through revenue and expenditure settlement reviews, departmental hearings, and administrative audits, the council has strived to fulfill its role and mission as a representative body of the residents by communicating with them and visiting living sites, making efforts to become an open council dedicated to regional development.
In particular, the Jangsu County Council promptly processed a one-point supplementary budget related to the urgent disaster relief fund payment to stabilize the lives of residents suffering from the global COVID-19 pandemic and to revitalize the local economy.
Additionally, by returning overseas travel expenses for public officials and donating the entire emergency disaster relief fund from all council members, the council shared the residents’ hardships and took the lead in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis.
Kim Jong-moon, the first half chairman of the 8th Jangsu County Council, said as he concluded his term, “Our council has not only conducted legislative activities that meet the expectations of the residents as true servants for them but also concentrated all capabilities to further improve the quality of life of the residents.”
Also, Kim Yong-moon, elected as the chairman for the second half of the 8th Jangsu County Council at the 316th extraordinary session on July 1, emphasized in his acceptance speech, “Amid the global COVID-19 crisis, I will build an open council that communicates and collaborates with the residents.”
