[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The Dangjin Police Station in Chungnam announced on the 10th that they have sent Mr. A (33) to the prosecution on charges of robbery and murder for sequentially killing his girlfriend and her older sister.
Mr. A strangled his girlfriend to death around 10:30 PM on the 25th of last month at an apartment in Songsan-myeon, Dangjin City.
He then broke into the older sister’s home in the same apartment complex, hid there, and killed her in the same manner when she returned home from work early the next morning.
The police discovered the bodies at both locations after receiving a report from the victims’ family that they had lost contact with their daughter.
Mr. A stole the older sister’s car, bag, and credit card, fled to the Ulsan area, caused a traffic accident, and escaped. It was also confirmed that he withdrew and used 5.8 million KRW in cash using the stolen credit card.
According to the police, Mr. A went to the older sister’s house to secure funds for his escape and because he feared the girlfriend’s murder would be reported to the police.
A police official stated, "It appears that the crime was committed after an argument with the girlfriend. Mr. A has admitted to most of the crime."
