[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 10th that 12 affiliated schools were selected in the Ministry of Education's vocational high school restructuring project competition.
In this competition, 12 specialized high schools in Jeonnam applied for the Ministry of Education's restructuring project for departments in the next year and 2022, and all 12 schools were selected, securing a project budget of 7.15 billion KRW.
This project is conducted in a competitive format targeting specialized high schools and Meister high schools nationwide, aiming to improve the structure of vocational high schools to cultivate manpower suitable for the 4th Industrial Revolution era and enhance educational capabilities.
In Jeonnam province, 12 schools applied and were all selected: Naju Technical High School (Smart Factory Department), Damyang Technical High School (Smart Electrical and Electronics Department), Mokpo Technical High School (Civil Engineering Department, Smart Mechanical Department), Mokpo Girls' Commercial High School (Health Nursing Department, Public Administration Department), Suncheon Hyosan High School (Smart Finance Department), Yeosu Technical High School (Mechanical Department), Yeosu Information Science High School (AI Design Department, AI Management Department), Yeonggwang Technical High School (e-Mobility Department), Yeongam Electronic Science High School (Electrical Energy Department), Jangseong High-tech High School (Agricultural Industry Food Department), Jeonnam Natural Science High School (Future Food Industry Department, Garden Industry Department), and Haenam Technical High School (Chemical Engineering Department).
Additionally, Suncheon Cheongam High School changed the department name from Financial Accounting Department to Financial Services Department, and Gwangyang High-tech High School changed the Bio Industry Department to Food Processing Department, recruiting new students from next year.
The Provincial Office of Education set directions for restructuring departments reflecting ▲ regional strategic industry demands ▲ restructuring departments suited to the needs of the root industry society ▲ restructuring departments aligned with AI (Artificial Intelligence) demand, and formed a vocational education innovation TF to actively promote department restructuring.
Furthermore, to cultivate excellent talent needed in regional strategic industries, nurture talent required in basic industrial fields, and balance the cultivation of manpower necessary for the 4th Industrial Revolution era, the restructuring of vocational high school departments will be continuously expanded.
Lee Hyun-hee, Director of the Future Talent Division, said, “Through department restructuring that responds to the 4th Industrial Revolution era, we will improve the structure of vocational education and enhance Jeonnam's vocational education competitiveness by promoting policies to activate employment for high school graduates.”
