Gimhae City Selected as an Excellent Institution for the Korean Cultural Value Awards for Two Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that it received the Excellence Award in the Cultural Heritage and Traditional Culture category at the '2nd Korea Cultural Value Awards' hosted by the Korea Cultural Value Research Association.

The Korea Cultural Value Research Association conducted a comprehensive evaluation of cultural, tourism, and arts pledge projects as well as new and special projects during the 7th local government term across 17 metropolitan and 226 basic local governments nationwide. The evaluation considered population size, regional uniqueness, policy implementation, organizational and financial scale, and new policy development, and awards were given separately for metropolitan and basic levels.

The awards were divided into 11 categories including Cultural Heritage and Traditional Culture, Cultural Arts Promotion, and Tourism Culture Promotion. Gimhae City was honored for the second consecutive year following its 2019 award.

The city received high marks for its distinctive local cultural projects and investment in cultural budgets relative to population, including ▲ the construction of the National Gaya History and Culture Center ▲ the Gaya Historical and Cultural Environment Improvement Project ▲ the registration of the Gaya Tumuli (Daeseong-dong Tumuli) as a World Cultural Heritage ▲ the Gimhae City History Compilation Project ▲ the construction of the Indian Museum ▲ the establishment of the Gyeongnam Content Enterprise Incubation Center ▲ the creation of the Hwapocheon Wetland Conservation Management Center ▲ the development of the Gimhae Buncheong Ceramics Village ▲ and the hosting of the Gimhae Biennale International Art Festival.

Mayor Heo Seong-gon emphasized, "We will reexamine the brilliant history and culture of Gaya and strengthen the identity of Gimhae as a historical and cultural city to leap forward as Gimhae, a world city marking 2000 years since the founding of Gaya."
