Sunchon National University Holds 2020 Research Excellence Faculty Meeting


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon National University (President Ko Young-jin) announced on the 10th that it held the ‘2020 Outstanding Research Faculty Meeting’ with 15 faculty members who contributed to the development of the university through excellent research achievements last year.


The faculty members invited to this meeting were recognized for pioneering new research fields at Suncheon National University, creating exemplary cases of outstanding industry-academia cooperation, and leading mutual growth with local companies.


They notably contributed significantly to the achievement of approximately 51.6 billion KRW in research funding secured by Suncheon National University in 2019.


The 2020 outstanding research faculty at Suncheon National University include 15 professors: No Il-seop from the Department of Horticulture, Baek Man-jeong from the Department of Pharmacy, Lee Jong-su from the Department of History, Heo Jae-seon from the Department of Environmental Education, Kim Dae-heon from the Department of Biology, Park Jong-in from the Department of Horticulture, Kwak Jun-seop from the Department of Printed Electronics Engineering, Yang Cheol-ju from the Department of Animal Resources Science, Lee Sang-seok from the Department of Animal Resources Science, Song Kyung-hwan from the Department of Agricultural Economics, Pyo Myung-ho from the Department of Printed Electronics Engineering, Jo Yong-il from the Department of Animal Resources Science, Jeong Sang-cheol from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Moon Il-sik from the Department of Chemical Engineering, and Lee Ki-man from the Department of Aerospace Engineering.


Among the selected outstanding research faculty, Professor Baek Man-jeong from the Department of Pharmacy has held a leading position in the domestic nano-toxicity research field as the principal investigator of the Integrated Omics Laboratory under the Basic Research Laboratory Project since 2015. Professor No Il-seop from the Department of Horticulture has led a large-scale domestic project for 10 years since 2013 as the head of the GSP Horticultural Seed Project Group, aiming to develop export-strategic seeds and achieve export goals.


President Ko Young-jin of Suncheon National University said, “I congratulate and thank those selected as outstanding research faculty who have devoted themselves day and night to research and contributed to the development of the university.” He added, “We will continue to actively listen to and support researchers’ difficulties so that many faculty members can achieve excellent research outcomes both quantitatively and qualitatively.”
