Conducting Merchant Capacity Building Classes on Customer Satisfaction, Foreign Languages, Tax Management, and SNS Marketing

Sinchon Boxquare Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday School Operation

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is operating a so-called ‘Mon-Tue-Wed School’ from the 14th of this month to September 8th in collaboration with the Korea Sharing Economy Promotion Agency to strengthen the capabilities of merchants at Sinchon Boxquare.

The program is named as such because classes are held on Monday through Wednesday, when customer traffic is relatively low compared to weekends, and it is conducted in compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines.

In May, the district conducted a demand survey among representatives of about 50 stores within Sinchon Boxquare to determine what content they wanted to learn, and designed the curriculum accordingly.

The education covers profit and loss analysis, tax management, customer satisfaction, English, Chinese, SNS marketing, stress management, brand consulting, and more. Professional instructors will give a total of about 20 special lectures at Sinchon Boxquare’s first-floor Multi Box, shared kitchen, and third-floor rooftop.

In particular, foreign language education is provided so that merchants can communicate simply with foreign customers to sell their products.

Additionally, separate one-on-one customized consulting will be provided for each lecture.

‘Mon-Tue-Wed School’ is held during morning or daytime breaks so as not to interfere with store operations. The district plans to issue certificates of completion to outstanding participating merchants through attendance management.

Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, “I hope this program will lead to improved quality of life and increased sales for merchants, and we will continue to support high-quality small-scale education programs that can be participated in without disrupting business.”

Meanwhile, Sinchon Boxquare, which opened in September 2018 as a container-type public rental shopping mall, has achieved results such as ▲conversion of street vendors to self-employed business owners ▲job creation through youth startups ▲revitalization of the stagnant local commercial district.

In particular, Seodaemun-gu, Ewha Womans University, and E Food Lab have formed a consortium to actively support youth startups here.
