[Golf Topic] WGC Series FedEx St. Jude "Held Without Spectators"

[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…The World Golf Championships (WGC) FedEx St. Jude Invitational (total prize money $10.5 million) will be held without spectators.

The tournament organizing committee announced on the 10th (Korean time) that "to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), spectators will not be allowed to attend this tournament." It will be held for four days starting on the 30th at Southwind TPC near Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The PGA Tour resumed its season on the 14th of last month with the Charles Schwab Challenge after suspending the first round of The Players Championship, known as the 'fifth major,' in March due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19.

Since then, the tour has completed events such as the RBC Heritage, Travelers Championship, and Rocket Mortgage Classic. On this day, the inaugural Workday Charity Open first round was held at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. Initially, the plan was to allow gallery attendance starting from next week's Memorial Tournament at the same venue, but after players, caddies, and other tour personnel tested positive for COVID-19, it was finally decided to hold the tournament without spectators.
