[Asia Economy Reporters Park Cheol-eung, Jeon Jin-young] Former lawmaker Sohn Hak-kyu expressed his feelings after paying respects at the funeral hall set up for the late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 10th. He told reporters, "Since hearing the news yesterday, my heart has been heavy and I cannot suppress my deep sorrow."
Former lawmaker Sohn said, "He was a very good and great person, and it is extremely regrettable. When I returned after studying in the UK, lawyer Jo Hyeong-rae introduced him as an excellent person, and I have known him since then," sharing his connection with the deceased.
He continued about the deceased, "He was a truly outstanding person," adding, "He was a figure who drew a new line in Korea's civic movements such as the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice and Beautiful Store, and a great administrator who tried to incorporate such civic spirit and world-class best practices into city governance and administration."
Former lawmaker Sohn also said, "I was thinking of meeting him as I am currently promoting the establishment of the Jo Hyeong-rae Memorial Hall."
