[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases related to door-to-door sales nationwide has reached 453.
Jung Eun-kyung, head of the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH), stated at a briefing held on the 10th at the Osong Disease Control Headquarters in Chungbuk, "Recently, cluster infections related to door-to-door sales have been continuously occurring."
Cluster infections related to door-to-door sales by region are as follows: Seoul (210 cases), metropolitan area (35 cases), Daejeon (87 cases), Gwangju (121 cases), totaling 453 cases. Among them, 345 are contacts, which is three times the number of visitors (108 cases). There are 22 severe or critical patients and 3 deaths.
Head Jung explained, "According to epidemiological investigations, (confirmed cases related to door-to-door sales) stayed for long periods in enclosed environments without properly wearing masks, either not wearing them or removing them during conversations, and engaged in close conversations."
She added, "Furthermore, despite having symptoms, they visited multi-use facilities such as saunas, religious facilities, restaurants, beauty salons, and medical institutions, leading to additional infections and rapid spread into the community."
On this day, regarding the Gwangju door-to-door sales gathering, one additional confirmed case related to Gwangju Ilgok Central Church and three related to Gwangju Exam Academy were reported. An epidemiological link between Gwangju Exam Academy and SM Sauna was confirmed, so Gwangju Exam Academy was also classified as related to the Gwangju door-to-door sales gathering. One additional confirmed case related to the metropolitan area door-to-door sales gathering was also reported.
