[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 45 on the 10th.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 13,338, an increase of 45 from midnight the previous day.
The daily number of new confirmed cases recorded in the 40s on the 29th and 30th of last month, rose to the 50s on the 1st and 2nd, and then to the 60s from the 3rd to the 5th. However, it dropped back to the 40s on the 6th and 7th, rose again to the 60s on the 8th, then decreased to the 50s the day before, and fell to the 40s on the day.
Among the 45 newly confirmed cases, 22 were locally transmitted and 23 were imported. Of the local cases, 7 were in Seoul and 3 in Gyeonggi Province, totaling 10 in the metropolitan area. Additionally, 7 cases were confirmed in Daejeon, 3 in Gwangju, and 2 in Jeonnam.
Among the 23 imported cases, 4 were detected during quarantine. The rest were confirmed after entry in Gyeonggi (11), Gyeongnam (3), Chungbuk (2), and one each in Seoul, Incheon, and Jeonnam.
Combining local and imported cases, the metropolitan area accounted for a total of 23 cases. New confirmed cases were reported in 8 cities and provinces nationwide, including the metropolitan area.
The number of patients who have been declared recovered and released from isolation reached 12,065, an increase of 46 from the previous day. The death toll rose by one to 288.
