Hyundai Nexo Receives High Praise as "Exceptionally Excellent Car" in German Expert Driving Review

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 10th that its hydrogen electric vehicle Nexo received very high praise in a vehicle driving evaluation conducted by the German automobile magazine 'Auto Motor und Sport.'

Auto Motor und Sport is considered one of the three major German automobile magazines, along with Auto Bild and Auto Zeitung. The evaluations conducted by this magazine influence purchasing decisions of consumers not only in Germany but throughout Europe.

During the one-week evaluation period, Auto Motor und Sport conducted tests by driving a total of 1,500 km on general roads and highways. The magazine cited Nexo's practical driving range as its greatest advantage. Despite rough handling such as high-speed driving, rapid acceleration, and sudden braking, it gave high marks for being able to drive over 600 km on a single charge.

The magazine also estimated that under fuel-efficient driving assumptions, Nexo could achieve over 750 km of range certified by the European NEDC (New European Driving Cycle).

Easy refueling was also highlighted as an advantage. It takes about 5 minutes to fully fill the hydrogen fuel gauge, which was evaluated to be almost the same as the refueling time for gasoline and diesel fuels.

Auto Motor und Sport explained, "Nexo is a perfect car for long-distance driving, and its driving performance felt safe and reliable."

Meanwhile, Nexo sold 4,987 units last year, ranking first in global hydrogen electric vehicle sales. As of last month, Hyundai's cumulative sales of hydrogen electric vehicles surpassed 10,000 units, with 7,740 units sold domestically and 2,404 units overseas. Hyundai plans to expand annual hydrogen electric vehicle sales to 110,000 units by 2025 and establish an annual production system of 500,000 units by 2030.
