LH Donates Relief Funds to Rental Housing Families Struggling with COVID-19 Hardships

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has extended support to single-parent families living in rental housing who are experiencing hardships due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

On the 10th, LH announced that it donated 25 million won in funds to support single-parent families living in purchased rental housing who are facing difficulties such as job loss caused by COVID-19.

The donation ceremony held that day was attended by Kang Gi-gwan, Head of LH Housing Welfare Business Division, Baek Ok-seon, Representative of the National Council of Domestic Violence Victim Protection Facilities, along with representatives from purchased rental housing operating organizations including Seoul YWCA Bongcheon Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Seoul YWCA Welfare Project Group, Ddiatjari Oneul-ui Yeoseong, and the social welfare corporation Happiness Creation.

The donation funds will be delivered to 164 single-parent families residing in LH purchased rental housing through the National Council of Domestic Violence Victim Protection Facilities. The funds will be used for purchasing study materials for student children and supporting cultural activities. A letter from LH President Byeon Chang-heum, containing an encouraging message saying, "Although these are difficult times, we hope you do not lose courage and hope and overcome them wisely," will also be delivered.

In addition, starting this year, LH plans to include children of single-parent families in purchased rental housing selected by entrusted agencies, as well as residents who have directly contracted with LH, as recipients of the ‘Housing Welfare Scholarship.’ Additional support measures such as installing emergency bells in homes for households that wish to have them will also be prepared.
