[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Gwan-ju and Song Seung-yoon] Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon was found dead on the 10th, and the police have begun investigating the exact cause of death and his whereabouts.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency held a briefing at around 2 a.m. on the 10th at Waryong Park in Seoul, stating, "An autopsy is being conducted near the discovery site," and "We are analyzing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to trace the route from the Seoul Mayor's official residence to the discovery location."

According to the police, Mayor Park's daughter reported him missing to 112 at 5:17 p.m. the previous day. A full-scale search began at 5:30 p.m., and at 12:01 a.m. on the day of discovery, Mayor Park's body was found in the mountains near the fortress wall path between Sukjeongmun and Samcheonggak on Bukaksan Mountain. Personal items such as a cellphone and business cards were found at the scene, but no suicide note was discovered.

It is presumed that Mayor Park took a taxi from the official residence to Waryong Park and then proceeded on foot. The police plan to confirm the exact route of his movements through route analysis.

The police believe Mayor Park took his own life and intend to investigate the precise circumstances of his death. A police official stated, "There appears to be no special indication of homicide," and added, "We will proceed with the investigation according to the procedures for handling unnatural deaths."
