[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City, Jeonbuk, is strengthening safety management for valley and river water play to prevent water play safety accidents during the summer season.

On the 9th, the city announced that it will deploy 40 safety management personnel to 14 key management areas, including valleys in Sannae-myeon, which are popular with water play visitors in July and August and have high accident risks, focusing on preventing safety accidents and managing quarantine.

The city completed professional first aid training for water play safety management personnel in advance and also finished health education on the use of safety equipment and COVID-19 prevention to enable immediate application on site.

Additionally, as outdoor water play activities are expected to increase this year, the city will increase the number of safety personnel, designate responsibility zones, focus on assigning workers during vulnerable time periods, and strengthen work management such as daily temperature checks and respiratory symptom monitoring.

During the preparation period, the city inspected 20 water play management areas, installed buoys and safety lines to prohibit access to dangerous zones, maintained old equipment, and added 100 life jackets.

Along with this, 55 banners were installed to inform about water play and freshwater snail harvesting risks, as well as social distancing guidelines for water play areas, and a total of 12 portable automated external defibrillators were placed for emergency use on site.

Furthermore, non-contact fever checkers and hand sanitizers were installed in areas where safety management personnel are deployed to conduct visitor temperature checks and visitor list recording during the intensive period.

A city official said, “We ask everyone to strictly follow safety rules such as wearing life jackets in valleys and rivers and prohibiting entry after drinking, as well as COVID-19 prevention guidelines,” and added, “Our city will continue to do its best to create a safe and healthy water play environment.”
