[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that it held a consultation meeting to explore future development directions by forming a joint consultative body with the Masan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office for the creation and management of waterfront spaces in Masan Port.

The consultative body is chaired jointly by Jeong Hye-ran, the 2nd Vice Mayor of Changwon City, and Byeon Jae-young, the head of the Masan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, and consists of 25 officials including Kim Seong-ho, Director of the Marine Port and Fisheries Bureau of Changwon City.

At the consultation meeting held that day, both organizations established the role of the consultative body following the creation of the waterfront space in Masan Port and sought development plans for Masan Port.

The Masan Port Waterfront Space Creation and Management Consultative Council plans to discuss specific implementation measures for the development of our local marine and port areas, including the creation of waterfront spaces.

The waterfront spaces in the Masan Port West Port District and the Disaster Prevention Hill are being developed by the Masan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office with a project budget of 89.2 billion KRW. Facilities such as sports facilities, water play areas, outdoor stages, and leisure sports facilities will be installed to create much-needed rest areas, providing citizens with leisure activities and attractions. Changwon City and the Masan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office are cooperating to develop these spaces.

Once completed by the end of this year, it is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by linking with the tourism industry.

Kim Seong-ho, Director of the Marine Port and Fisheries Bureau of Changwon City, stated, “Through this consultation meeting, we will support the development of the waterfront space as a new landmark of Masan Port in connection with Masan Marine New City and Dongsom Island,” and added, “We will continuously discover necessary collaborative projects between the two organizations and actively cooperate to further develop the marine and fisheries sectors.”
