[Breaking News] 477 Schools Nationwide Closed Today... 380 Concentrated in Gwangju

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), in-person classes were not held at 477 schools nationwide on the 9th.


The Ministry of Education announced that as of 10 a.m. that day, this was the number of schools that adjusted their in-person class schedules.


The number of schools that suspended in-person classes decreased by 3 from the previous day (480 schools). However, since the 2nd (522 schools), the number has remained in the triple digits for six consecutive days based on class days.


As confirmed cases continue to occur mainly in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gwangju, and Daejeon, schools where in-person classes are canceled are appearing. By region, only in Gwangju, 380 schools were unable to hold in-person classes.
