[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] A senior official, Mr. A, at Jung-gu Office in Seoul is alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship with a lower-ranking female employee within the office. As Seoul City is currently investigating the facts, Jung-gu Office has placed Mr. A on standby duty.
According to Jung-gu Office on the 9th, a report regarding the inappropriate relationship between Mr. A and a Grade 8 female employee was recently submitted to the Seoul City Human Rights Officer. Consequently, Jung-gu Office reportedly placed the official on standby duty and excluded him from his duties the day before.
A Jung-gu Office official stated, “An investigation into the senior public official’s conduct damaging the dignity of the office is underway, and we understand that the official has been placed on standby duty.”
Meanwhile, Seoul City is scheduled to hold a personnel committee meeting on the 17th to discuss disciplinary measures regarding this case. The Jung-gu Office labor union has also expressed its intention to prepare future responses based on the disciplinary outcome from Seoul City.
