Damyang-gun "Report and Pay July Resident Tax Property Portion"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 9th that it has sent guidance letters and tax return forms to business establishments in the jurisdiction in July, the month for resident tax filing and payment.

The property portion of the resident tax is a local tax imposed on business owners who have business establishments to cover the costs necessary for environmental improvement and maintenance.

The target is business owners who had business establishments in the county as of the tax base date, July 1, and whose total floor area of business establishment buildings exceeds 330㎡.

Payment methods include using the internet local tax system WETAX to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as part of social distancing, or submitting the tax return form to the county tax accounting department or the town and township offices, receiving a tax bill, and paying at financial institutions.

The tax is unrelated to the building owner and must be filed and paid by the business owner who directly uses the business establishment by the 31st of this month. Failure to file and pay within the deadline will result in penalties such as a 20% non-filing penalty, a 10% underreporting penalty, and a delinquency penalty of 0.025% per day.

However, business establishments with a total floor area of 330㎡ or less are excluded, and facilities directly used for employees' health, welfare, and education such as dormitories, company housing, cafeterias, lounges, and changing rooms are excluded from the taxable floor area.

Meanwhile, to encourage filing and payment, the county sent guidance letters and tax return forms to about 1,000 business owners in the jurisdiction earlier this month and is promoting through various media such as the website and banners.
