[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] From the night of the 9th (today) to the 10th (tomorrow), the rainy season rain will fall nationwide.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted on the 9th that the rain, which started in Jeju, will expand to the southern coast overnight, and rain will fall in the central region by tomorrow morning. This rain is caused by a low-pressure system developed from a stationary front passing through the southern coastal area. Since the low-pressure system will not expand to the central region, precipitation amounts are expected to vary significantly by area.
The expected precipitation by tomorrow morning is up to 150mm in the southern coast of Jeonnam, the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, Jeju, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo (over 200mm in the coastal areas of Gyeongnam, southern Jeju, and mountainous regions). Gangwon Yeongdong and Jeonnam (excluding the southern coast), and inland Gyeongbuk are expected to receive 30-80mm, while the central region excluding Gangwon Yeongdong is expected to receive 5-40mm. In particular, Jeju and the Gyeongnam coast are expected to experience very strong rain exceeding 50mm per hour accompanied by gusts and thunder/lightning, and the southern coast of Jeonnam is expected to have very strong rain around 30mm per hour, so caution is required. Until the 11th (the day after tomorrow), the whole country will be cloudy, but it will gradually clear up at night.
The rainy season rain will start again from the morning of the 12th in Jeju. On the afternoon of the 12th, rain will expand to Chungnam and Jeolla regions, and then nationwide on the 13th. Warm and humid water vapor will rise to the central region, so heavy rain is expected there as well. The rain falling over two days until the 14th will stop but is expected to return again in the latter half of the week.
The heat will ease along with the rainy season rain. The daytime high temperature is expected to be 23-33 degrees Celsius on the 9th and 22-28 degrees Celsius on the 10th. Due to humidity, the perceived temperature is expected to be about 2-3 degrees higher.
