Kolon Volunteer Week 'Dream Partners Week' Held

[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] Kolon Group announced on the 9th that it will hold the 'Dream Partners Weeks' event from the 1st to the 14th of this month. Since 2013, Kolon employees have practiced sharing by engaging in volunteer activities intensively during a set period each year.

This event is conducted in a non-face-to-face manner, especially to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Under the theme "Though physically apart, hearts are closer," the event minimizes interpersonal contact and practices volunteering while adhering to "social distancing in daily life." The event consists of hands-on volunteer activities making daily necessities during spare moments and the "Ssedam Running," which involves picking up trash while jogging.

Through the hands-on program, children using 40 regional children's centers nationwide will make figure soaps and cotton masks. The purpose is to encourage handwashing by embedding character toy figures that children like into the soap and to help prevent COVID-19 with upcycled masks made from the company's leftover fabric.

With the intention of protecting both the environment and health, the Ssedam Running event was also held. A course requiring environmental cleanup was developed near the Gwacheon and Magok business sites, where participants pick up trash along the roadside while running.

Kim Seung-il, Vice President of Kolon CSR Office, said, "We thought of conducting non-face-to-face volunteer activities to meaningfully carry out the Dream Partners Weeks, which the company has held annually, while preventing the spread of COVID-19," adding, "In difficult and challenging times, we must remember the spirit of sharing."

Kolon Group officially launched the CSR Office at the group level in 2012 and integrated the social contribution activities of its affiliates to establish the Kolon Social Volunteer Corps, which employees participate in. The Kolon Social Volunteer Corps operates programs such as "Hello Dream," which supports the dreams of low-income and disabled children, under the slogan "A stepping stone toward dreams, Dream Partners."
