[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Korea Citibank announced on the 9th that it will start the activity of "Growing acorn seeds and returning them to the forest" as part of the "Citibank Global Community Contribution Day" event.

Through this volunteer activity, employees will each plant acorn seeds in recycled containers at home, grow them into seedlings about a hand-span in size, and later transplant them to the Noeul Park Tree Nursery located in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, helping to create an urban forest.

Marking its 15th year this year, the "Citibank Global Community Contribution Day" event is observing government quarantine guidelines due to COVID-19 and ensuring the safety of participating employees by conducting various social contribution activities in small groups or non-face-to-face formats since early last month, instead of large-scale simultaneous gatherings. Citibank employees and their families participating in this activity pledged to carefully nurture the seedlings with the hope of creating a healthy urban forest and preserving the environment, even though they are growing the acorn seeds individually due to COVID-19.
