[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun County, Jeonnam (County Mayor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 9th that all 109 related personnel, including all employees of the county health center where the family of Gwangju COVID-19 confirmed case No. 127 works, tested negative for COVID-19.
Earlier, on the 7th, upon receiving notification that the family member (Gwangju case No. 127) of a county health center employee residing in Gwangju Metropolitan City was confirmed positive, the county conducted comprehensive diagnostic testing for all health center staff.
On the 8th, the county carried out diagnostic tests on about 60 health center employees, as well as 108 public officials and related agency staff who had contact with the health center employees, and received negative test results late that afternoon.
The health center employee who is a family member of Gwangju case No. 127 also underwent testing in Gwangju Metropolitan City and received a negative result.
The Gwangju case No. 127, a family member of the health center employee, was tested in relation to the small-scale cluster infection at Gwangju Gosi Academy (Gwangju case No. 117) and was confirmed positive.
On the afternoon of the 7th, the county promptly responded upon receiving this information, conducting comprehensive diagnostic testing not only for the employee in question but also for all health center staff and public officials and related agency employees who had recent contact with the staff.
Additionally, the health center and the screening clinic within the health center were temporarily closed for one day on the 8th for disinfection and sterilization.
To prevent any gaps in quarantine and resident services due to the health center closure, specimen collection and disinfection tasks were carried out normally at the drive-thru screening clinic set up in the second parking lot of the Haneum Culture and Sports Center.
The county conducted comprehensive diagnostic testing as quickly as possible to alleviate the heightened anxiety among residents caused by the spread of 'Gwangju-origin COVID-19' and the confirmed case within the health center family, and immediately informed residents of the test results via disaster text messages late on the evening of the 8th upon receiving the results.
A county official stated, “Fortunately, all individuals tested in relation to the cluster infections at Gwangju Gosi Academy (Gwangju case No. 127), De Mer Wedding Hall, and four wedding halls located in Gwangju (Gwangju case No. 48) tested negative,” adding, “We will not let our guard down and will do our utmost to prevent further spread in the local community.”
