[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Jo] Korean Kolmar, a global cosmetics original design manufacturing (ODM) company, announced on the 9th that it has developed an oil-free sunscreen composed only of moisture and water-soluble ingredients and completed patent registration. This is the first time in Korea that a sunscreen containing no oil ingredients has been developed and marketed.
Korean Kolmar overcame limitations with technology that stably combines water-soluble ingredients with sunscreen effects. Since the main ingredient of existing sunscreens was oil, the best approach was to mix moisture and oil well to provide functions such as moisturizing. However, by stably storing these water-soluble ingredients in a thickening agent, they created a sunscreen that functions fully without oil.
Korean Kolmar expects that this oil-free sunscreen will resolve skin troubles caused by existing oil-type products. Additionally, it is made in a moist gel type, allowing users to feel hydration and freshness without stickiness or greasiness, enabling it to serve sufficiently as skincare.
Furthermore, it has been recognized for its highest sunscreen functionality. It blocks both long-wave UVA and UVB accompanied by strong heat, securing the highest sunscreen indices of SPF50+ and PA++++.
Gyesungbong, head of the Makeup Research Institute, said, “Korean Kolmar continues to evolve by developing sunscreens reflecting consumers’ needs every year. We will spare no effort in research and development through various convergence technologies and trend analysis to maintain our reputation as a global leader in sunscreens.”
