Baemin "Thank You to the Milk Delivery Person Who Checks on Seniors Every Day"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Woowa Brothers, the operator of 'Baedal Minjok,' announced on the 9th that they delivered thank-you letters and Baemin coupons worth 50,000 KRW to 190 delivery workers of the nonprofit organization 'Milk Delivery Asking the Well-being of the Elderly.'

The thank-you letters and coupons were prepared to express gratitude to the delivery workers who deliver milk every morning to the homes of elderly people living alone despite difficulties in delivery work due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.

Kim Bong-jin, chairman of Woowa Brothers, said in the thank-you letter, "Today, I send my regards to the delivery workers who always work hard with dedication and commitment. A pack of milk delivered to elderly people living alone is a reliable friend asking about their well-being and a precious hand to prevent solitary deaths. I sincerely express my gratitude for that devotion."

'Milk Delivery Asking the Well-being of the Elderly' is a campaign carried out since 2003 by Oksu Central Church in Geumho-dong, Seoul, to prevent solitary deaths among elderly people living alone. Every morning, milk is delivered free of charge to the homes of elderly people living alone, and if two or more milk packs accumulate at the door, the delivery worker notifies family members or the community center to check on their well-being as part of elderly care sharing activities.

Woowa Brothers sympathized with the purpose of the campaign and began full-scale sponsorship in 2012. The campaign expanded as the global investment firm Goldman Sachs joined. Goldman Sachs started participating in the campaign during the investment review process to decide on a 40 billion KRW investment in Woowa Brothers in 2014. Subsequently, Woowa Brothers and Goldman Sachs developed this campaign into a nonprofit organization in December 2015.

'Milk Delivery Asking the Well-being of the Elderly' began delivering to about 100 households in the Seongdong-gu area but has expanded its delivery area and target to 16 districts in Seoul, covering a total of about 2,000 households since the establishment of the nonprofit organization in 2015. The total number of milk donations by Woowa Brothers from 2012 to the present has reached approximately 780,000 packs.
