[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The Seoul Metropolitan Government has initiated a revision of the district unit plan to revitalize the Euljiro Bangsan Market area.
On the 8th, Seoul held the 9th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting and announced on the 9th that the Jugo District Unit Plan decision (amendment) was approved with modifications.
The Jugo district unit plan area (102,010㎡) is located near Euljiro 4-ga Station on Seoul Subway Lines 2 and 5, in Jung-gu Jugo-dong, where the Bangsan Market is situated. Since the initial district unit plan was decided in 2006, this area has been subject to revision to reflect changes in urban conditions and higher-level plans.
With this revision, three special planning zones within Bangsan Market, four urban planning facility parks, one parking lot, and one road will be abolished. The lot plan, building use plan, building coverage ratio and floor area ratio plan, height plan, and open space plan within the site will also be partially changed.
A Seoul city official stated, "We expect that this amendment to the Jugo district unit plan will lead to the revitalization of the Bangsan Market area and inject vitality into the local economy."
