In December, a 270.8㎡ Youth-Only Space Will Be Created in Hapjeong 3 District's Cultural and Assembly Facilities... One-Stop Support for Counseling, Solo Startups, and Social Networking
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) will open the 'Seoul Youth Center Mapo (tentative name)' in Hapjeong 3 District this December to provide one-stop support for youth counseling, solo entrepreneurship, and social network formation.
Seoul City will provide overall support, and Mapo-gu will operate the Seoul Youth Center Mapo, aiming to concretize policy support needed by young people through a comprehensive counseling support system that responds to the demands of the youth.
Currently, Mapo Youth Naru (148-22 Tojeong-ro), operated by the district to support youth, is a dedicated space focused on job seeking and entrepreneurship support, whereas Seoul Youth Center Mapo is a more comprehensive youth-exclusive space that provides one-stop support from counseling to solo entrepreneurship, social network formation, and specialized projects.
The district plans to establish Seoul Youth Center Mapo in a 270.8㎡ space on the first floor of the cultural and assembly facility in Hapjeong 3 District (14 World Cup-ro 1-gil, Hapjeong-dong) this December.
The youth center will include meeting rooms, a youth lounge, seminar rooms, counseling rooms, a shared kitchen, and offices.
The district will select a private consignment operator by October to commercialize comprehensive youth counseling, policy services, youth policy promotion, and local youth specialized projects.
In particular, an online and offline comprehensive counseling system will be operated to support youth.
Main initiatives include ▲ understanding the comprehensive status and needs of youth ▲ linking information and resources tailored to individual youth needs ▲ operating online channels for constant communication (phone, text, Kakao Channel, etc.).
The district will establish installation and operation plans and conduct space design services in July, complete remodeling construction by October, conduct a pilot operation period in November, and officially open Seoul Youth Center Mapo in December.
Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun said, "Seoul Youth Center Mapo is a space to support young people struggling amid difficult economic conditions and fierce competition," adding, "We will prepare to ensure that policies and services reflecting the vivid voices of youth are supported."
