Operation of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Using Video Conferencing Program... Held on July 21 and 28... Applications Accepted Until July 15 for Children, Students, Faculty, and General Groups

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] As community transmission of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) spreads, Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is providing non-face-to-face cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for local residents and accepting applications from those who wish to participate.

Since 2015, the district has operated a professional training facility called the Emergency Medical Training Center, but it has been closed since February to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Accordingly, to safely teach CPR without the risk of infectious disease, the district offers lectures using the Google Meet video conferencing program for children, students, faculty, and the general public who wish to receive training.

Applicants can apply by July 15 via email to the Emergency Medical Training Center (rlarkgus28@gangbuk.go.kr). The district plans to select participants considering preparation factors such as the ability to use computers, smartphones, and the internet.

After a preliminary check, the district will provide participants with equipment such as mannequins and automated external defibrillators, and conduct two sessions on July 21 and 28. The training, led by three first-class emergency medical technicians, will proceed with video viewing followed by the instructor’s explanation and demonstration, and then hands-on practice.

Park Gyeom-su, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “Repeated practice is most important to properly respond to cardiac arrest, which can occur in any situation,” adding, “Even in situations where face-to-face activities are difficult due to COVID-19, we will devise various measures so that more residents can continuously receive CPR training.”

The district has taken the lead in spreading CPR skills to improve residents’ ability to respond to emergencies through initiatives such as designating Life Safety Model Schools and Workplaces, hosting youth CPR competitions, and providing health experience zone education called You and Me and Us.
